What prompted the creation of an Extranet portal?
Louis Ballaux, Product Coordinator Light & Medium Range says: "At MAN, we have been working with a SharePoint solution for years for our internal document management and smooth collaboration between employees at headquarters and our own 7 branches. However, when we also wanted to give our 22 independent dealers (private capital) access to essential information and documents, we ran into several challenges. For example, MAN Truck & Bus SE's internal IT policy does not allow external stakeholders direct access on their own internal SharePoint environment.
This caused us to have to look for an affordable solution to share information that was both user-friendly and secure, without sacrificing control and manageability.
Therefore, we opted for an external portal or Extranet, where dealers can access relevant information in a structured and controlled way, without violating our internal security guidelines. Moreover, this way we can be sure that they always have the latest versions and correct information about our models, programs and services at their disposal."
